Changing Lives with Mobility
Emmanuel came to NLC hopeful to find some carts for himself and other disabled people in his community. With the team coming, we decided this would be a good time to do a distribution.We arranged to meet him and the recipients he represented to give them their carts. Nine came in person or sent a family member to come and get their cart, one was still coming, six were in town and unable to arrange transport to where we were so we left them at the ZAPD office in town for them to pick up.
We met at Emmanuel’s home and met his wife and one of his daughters. We learned that he is a farmer and lost his son to an accident some years ago. He shared that since May he had been asking around and searching for a way to help his disabled community. He remembered that many years ago he had received a cart from us and tried to find us, getting lost once in the process. The others in the community contributed towards his transport money and eventually he found us in Garneton where we met. During the distribution, someone came unexpectedly for a cart, and in a selfless act of love Emmanuel gave up his cart for this man and said he would come to NLC and get another one for himself later. What an ambassador Emmanuel is for his community. He told me several times, “I’m so happy.” He was blessed to see his friends get a cart which is a chance for a better life. We prayed over each recipient individually and then again as a group. We hope this tangible expression of God’s love for them will change their lives for the better.
