Bibles for Students
Many students are eager to own their own Bibles. This is helpful in their school studies (they take a religious education class), but also in their personal faith journeys. For several years now, we’ve given the students a chance to get a Bible by memorizing verses. We recognize that while most of our students can’t afford to purchase their own Bible, it also still is healthy for them to have to “earn” it in some way. When you’ve worked for something, there is a dignity in that and the item tends to be more highly valued. This is why we ask them to memorize ten verses. It puts them on the path of reading and memorizing Scripture, allows them the chance to be an active part of getting the Bible and not just a passive recipient, and is a very doable challenge for their young minds!
We pray that these students will read their Bibles, and God will use His Word to transform their minds and hearts with the Truth.
